It’s been ages since we shot a video! Click here to watch ‘Benjamin Mee’, one of the more haunting tracks from our new album.
Well what a night! A stunning venue, beautiful lighting, full house, awesome sound, an off stage trumpeter and a fantastic ladies choir…what more could we ask for!
Thank you so much to everyone who came along to support us on this special night. It was an absolute pleasure for us to perform back at St Andrew’s Church (you know how much we love churches!) and for this one-off occasion we joined forces with a young trumpeter and Hexham-based choir ‘Off The Wall A Cappella’ for the album title track ‘Stand Together’.
Really hope to do more collaborations like this in the future, as this was such a wonderful experience. Thanks so much to all involved and particularly those who bought tickets and CD’s at the interval.
A massive thanks to CELTIC MUSIC RADIO for selecting our new album to be their ‘album of the week’!
We are now proud to have recorded not one, but two versions of this beautiful North East folk song. In the very same week we launched our new jazz arrangement of the song, we discovered the our earlier, more traditional arrangement was aired on the BBC World Service! You can hear or download our latest jazz arrangement here.
So our new album ‘STAND TOGETHER has officially been released! Thanks to those of you who have already ordered copies or dowloaded the album.
We are also delighted to report that 5 out of the 10 tracks have already been played across the airwaves just THIS WEEK!…so big thanks to BBC Radio Wales, West Norfolk Radio, Blues and Roots Radio, Radio Tyneside and Readifolk Radio…it’s great to have your continued support.
We kicked off our tour this week with a show in Kingswinford (West Midlands) at the friendliest folk club in the world! Thanks to everyone who came along to the Woodman Folk Club. It was a great night!
Looking forward to travelling down South and across to East Anglia this week for the next batch of shows. Hope to see some of you there!
Big thanks to Genevieve Tudor for airing two tracks (Stand Together and Benjamin Mee) on her Folk Show last night on BBC Radio Shropshire. The show was titled ‘CD’s you need to hear’ so that was doubly nice! You can listen again for a month here.
Just heard that ‘Stand Together‘ is ‘Album of the Month‘ in the August edition of Crack Magazine!
“Their latest album features eight fabulous original songs and a couple of beautiful covers: The Water of Tyne (given a lightly jazzy arrangement) and the Sinatra classic In The Wee Small Hours. The duo dovetail together expertly with an appealing mix of folk, blues, jazz, country and pop with a sound that is rootsy Northumbrian and running the full gamut from breezy to haunting. Bravo! ”
….they get loads of submissions too. Well chuffed!
Six years ago we composed a score to accompany a brand new production of The Pied Piper of Hamelin, a puppet show based on the new version by Michael Morpurgo. Up-Front Arts Centre created the puppets, many many rats and the beautiful scenery then staged the show during the Summer of 2012 – it was a huge success! This Summer they are staging it once again at their fantastic award winning Theatre near Penrith, Cumbria. It runs until the end of the school holidays and is well worth a visit!
A review of ‘Stand Together’ has been published in the latest issue (126) of the Living Tradition magazine. You can read the review online at http://www.livingtradition.co.uk/webrevs/lama009.htm
